I showed a large portion of my collection including some new Tantric works at the Artists' Walkway for Masala, Mehndi, Masti, the largest South Asian festival in North America, held in Toronto, from July 25-27 at Exhibition Place.


Candice Lee Guelph Life     

A feature on my career and life philosophy
was out in the July-August issue of Guelph Life
magazine, an excellent local magazine delivered to fine
homes throughout the Guelph, ON area.


I showed four works--Lilith's Flight, Iris: Goddess of the Rainbow, Rosy-Fingered Dawn, and Pythia--at an important retrospective of feminist artists from the 1970s to the present including giants like Judy Chicago, Carolee Schneeman, and Penny Arcade. The show, titled Female Forms and Facets at the the Samuel Chen Art Gallery, Central Connecticut State University ran from March 13th through April 18, 2008.

Monday Night with the Arts

On July 3, 2008, I was interviewed by Mary-Lou Schagena about my feminist art for the radio program "Monday Night with the Arts" on CKWR radio in Waterloo, ON. You can listen to the full ten-minute interview here as an .MP3 file (size = 12MB).


Toronto Art Expo


I was once again be at the Toronto Art Expo, this year from March 6-9, 2008 at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre. My entire collection was on display there and I was pleased to talk about my work and the stories behind them in person. This is the largest art show in Canada with over 300 artists and live entertainment from around the world.

 


Yvain Mad has been selected for "Being Human," the annual International Figurative Exhibition at the Leighton Centre for the Arts in Calgary, Alberta. This was an exciting out-of-province appearance for me. The show ran from March 15 - April 26, 2008.


From July 13 to August 11, 2007, I had a solo show at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts, the public gallery of the city of Cambridge, ON, featuring all the works seen on this site. The show was titled "Myth, Meaning, Movement: The Sculpture of Candice Lee."

Candice Lee at the Varley Gallery

Emergent showed at the Varley Art Gallery, the public gallery of Markham, ON, from January 28 – May 13, 2007 in a show titled Canadian Artists without Borders featuring artists new to Canada from 15 different countries of origin.

I was also pleased to be a speaker and panelist at the Without Borders Artists Symposium held at the gallery on Sunday, March 11, 2007.

SSC Emerging Sculptors Show
