After recently celebrating Gallery Streetsville's four-year anniversary, staff at the art venue wanted to do something a little different.
That's why the gallery decided to host its first ever Sculpture Fest. At the exhibit, which opened with a reception on Friday, there are 30 works by 16 different sculpture artists. Many of the artisans hail from Mississauga and the GTA.
There are classical bronze sculptures provided by Don Chase, Candice Raquel Lee, Silvio Mastrodascio and Nighthawk Bain. Lee places emphasis on the human form, specifically the face, in her pieces Birth of Athena and After The Storm.
The works appear in several medium, including alabaster, limestone, soapstone, winterstone, terracotta and fired clay. Contributing artists include Deborah Patterson Dass, Eileen Millen, Ray Scott, Holly Atkinson, Liv Babra, Andy Donald Pavel Charo and Carol Anne MacLean.
In addition, there are more than 50 paintings and other works by another 24 artists at the show. These included pieces by Sandy Brand, Sonja Hidas, Delio Delgado, Pierre Sabourin and Doug May.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday and Sundays from 12-4 p.m.
